Swamp Mama Gator

A "Swamp Mama Gator" protects her single egg in the nest. I used vintage costume jewelry including earrings, seed beads, shells, wooden beads, mica fragments and chains. I was inspired by a set of golden metal earrings that reminded me of Gator arms! All objects are adhered to a velvet background. The frame is an estate sale find of faux barnwood. Size of the frame is 14 1/2" x 17 1/2" and depth is 3/4".

As with all handmade art, each piece carries the marks of its making. Frames and jewelry are sourced from estate sales and vintage finds, and may show gentle signs of age or prior use. You may also notice small traces of adhesive — a natural part of the handcrafting process. These characteristics are part of what makes each piece truly one of a kind.

Each piece is signed by the artist on the back.
